1. What is ShopLocalNola.com?

ShopLocalNola.com is a comprehensive directory of locally owned businesses in the Greater New Orleans area.

2. Is my business eligible for a listing on ShopLocalNola.com?

Shop Local NOLA is reserved for verified locally owned businesses in the Greater New Orleans Area. The businesses in our database must meet the following criteria:

  • • Located in the Greater New Orleans Area (Orleans Parish, Jefferson Parish, St. Tammany Parish, St. Bernard Parish, Plaquemines Parish, St. John the Baptist Parish, St. Charles Parish, or Tangipahoa Parish)
  • • Majority-owned by a resident or residents of the Greater New Orleans Area
  • • Louisiana Secretary of State Registration Active and In Good Standing
  • • Premium Membership Allows for Multiple Listings. These listings must be under one business name and owned by one individual.
  • • Franchises must be headquartered in the Greater New Orleans area

3. Getting Started

Claiming or adding your Shop Local NOLA business listing is easy! Create your account in a matter of minutes and input your important business information.

How to Claim a Listing?

 A. Create an account. You can do this by clicking on the “Sign in/Register” button at the top right of the navigation.

 B. Once you create your account, search ShopLocalNola.com to check if you have a listing in our directory.

 C. When you find your listing, click on it. You will see a button that says “Claim Listing” on your individual listing page.

 D. Follow the automated steps to claim your listing! You can choose between a Basic Listing Package or a Premium Listing Package.

 E. If you choose a Basic Listing Package, you will see a confirmation checkout screen that displays a $0-dollar amount. But don’t fret! We do not require credit card information for the Basic Package.

 F. If you purchase a Premium Listing Package (great choice!), you will be prompted to pay at the checkout screen.

 G. Once admin approves your claim, you can begin editing your listing based on the package you chose!

How to Add a Listing?

 A. To add a listing, click the “Add a Listing” button at the top right of the navigation, or the bottom of the homepage.

 B. Once you have selected “Add a Listing,” you can choose between the Basic Listing Package or the Premium Listing Package. Select your package choice.

 C. Once you select your package, fill out all of your listing information.

 D. If you choose a Basic Listing Package, you will see a confirmation checkout screen that displays a $0-dollar amount. But don’t fret! We do not require credit card information for the Basic Package.

 E. If you purchase a Premium Listing Package (great choice!), you will be prompted to pay at the checkout screen.

 F. Once admin approves your selection, you will receive an email with Listing Set-up instructions.

 

4. What if I don't see my Category? Subcategory? Relevant Tags?

Our directory picks up on key words and searchable terms used in a listing’s business description. We encourage users to use relevant words pertaining to their industry. For example, restaurants can use words such as: “breakfast, “hamburger,” and “coffee” to make their listing appear whenever a person searches for those terms.

Premium Listing users can also make category, subcategory, and tag suggestions through their support contact information. We will review your suggestions and add them accordingly. Our selection is diverse, so we encourage all users to give the options a second look if they can’t find their category upon first glance.

5. What is a Promoted Listing?

A Promoted Listing is a paid promotion a business can purchase monthly to have their listing featured on the Shop Local NOLA homepage, as well as rotated on other shop local listing pages. You can purchase a promoted listing package at any time and view your promoted listings and analytics in your user dashboard. The promoted listing includes one social media ad, in addition to your welcome post, on the Shop Local NOLA social media platforms.

6. What is a Featured Listing?

Featured listings are reserved for Premium Package customers. They have preferred placement immediately below Promoted Listings.

7. What is included in a Basic Package?

A Basic Package is free and includes all the features you need to get started with your single business listing! It includes your logo, basic business information, contact info, photos, website and phone links, user analytics, and easy editing. A business is limited to one free basic listing. 8. What is included in a Premium Package?

A Premium Package includes everything in the basic listing package + a whole lot more! This package supports businesses with multiple locations and provides email support, the ability to create offers and coupons, featured listing placement, social media links, product and service highlights, job application links, and additional features to improve the quality of your listing. When you sign up for a Premium Listing, you will receive a confirmation email will important information including your support contact information. (See Pricing Structure)

9. I need support. Who do I contact?

Shop Local NOLA offers friendly, 24/7 email support in our Premium Listing package. Once you sign up for our Premium Listing, you will receive a confirmation email with your Shop Local NOLA support information.

10. Why did Shop Local Nola reject my listing?

If you receive a notification that your listing has been rejected or deleted, it is because the information did not meet our community guidelines or the listing criteria.

ShopLocalNola.com has the right to remove or delete a listing that does not fall within our guidelines.

11. Why did Shop Local Nola reject my listing claim?

If we reject your listing claim, it is because you are not the business owner, or you do not meet our community guidelines.

12. Where can I view all of my listings?

You can view all of your listings within your dashboard under the “My Listings” tab.

13. What if I have purchased the premium listing package, but I no longer want it?

If you decide you no longer want to pay for your premium listing package (billed annually), you can contact us at info@shoplocalnola.com to cancel future payments. Your listing will stay live until it reaches its expiration. Expiration is exactly one year after purchasing a premium package. This email only reaches our sales team and cannot be used for support inquiries. If you have a support inquiry, please reach out to the contact information provided when you sign up for your Premium Listing!

14. What do I do if I want to delete my listing?

If you would like to delete your listing, we’re sorry to see you go! Visit your user dashboard, view “My Listings” and click on the delete button directly on the listing itself.

15. How do I get Shop Local Nola to feature my listing on their social media accounts?

To get your listing featured on our social media accounts, all you have to do is purchase a promoted listing! When you sign up for a Premium Package, we automatically post a “Welcome to Shop Local NOLA” social post introducing you to the platform.

16. What are Bookmarks?

Bookmarks is a function available within your user dashboard. If you decide you like a business and want to save it for later, you can bookmark it on its individual listing page! Those bookmarks will show up in your user dashboard.

17. Where can I edit my account details and listing information?

Account details and listing information, such as your business information, photos, and other listing information can be edited in your user-friendly dashboard. The information should update immediately. Don’t forget to click “Save” after you make any updates!

18. What payment methods do you take?

Shop Local NOLA accepts payment through PayPal or all major credit cards from Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. We will let our users know if we integrate additional payment methods.

19. How can I find out about special offers and the latest news with Shop Local Nola?

For special offers and updates, subscribe to our email list or follow us on social media! You can subscribe to our email list at the bottom of our homepage.

20. What are the recommended sizes for a logo and cover artwork?

Currently, we recommend that your logo be 300 x 300 pixels. That size will best accommodate our “icon circle.” For the cover art, we recommend that the size be 2500 x 1080 pixels. Please make sure your images are of good quality and represent your company as a whole. Images deemed inappropriate by Shop Local NOLA are subject to removal at any time. The maximum file size is 256 MB for all images.

21. How do the reviews work?

Customers and Shop Local NOLA users may use reviews to rate businesses within the Shop Local NOLA directory. You can leave a business review on individual listing pages. The review system also helps while sorting through businesses on the explore page. The Shop Local NOLA team evaluates each review to guarantee no inappropriate or willfully defamatory material gets approved. Users can search and sort businesses based upon their ratings on the explore page.

22. How do I message a business?

If you want to message a business as a customer, you can do so on the individual listing page. If you want to message another business as a business, you can do so by composing a message with our message button in the navigation.

23. How do I log out of Shop Local Nola?

The “logout” option is available at the bottom of both your user dashboard and your user dropdown on the navigation. Once you click the logout button, you will be prompted to confirm your decision to log out of your account.

24. I've submitted my listing but don't see it on Shop Local Nola.

Each business is verified by the Shop Local NOLA team and this verification process can take up to three business days. You will receive a conformation email when your order is processed and your listing is live.

25. What do I do if someone else claims my business listing?

Oh no! We’re sorry for the inconvenience. Thankfully, this is an easy fix. First, create a ShopLocalNOLA.com account. Under each individual listing, there is an option to “Report Listing.” In your report, please describe your issue with the listing. Please include the best contact information with which to reach you.

26. I purchased a Shop Local Nola listing, so why am I paying JB Communications, LLC?

Shop Local Nola is a directory powered by JB Communications, LLC in Metairie, Louisiana. If you have any additional questions about payment, please contact us at info@shoplocalnola.com.
